Just wanted to stop by and let you all know that I have NOT fallen off the face of the earth. Rather, I have been traveling it a bit, and subsequently catching up!
Thursday, my local Operation Christmas Child team and I traveled to Stone Mountain Georgia for OCC’s annual Connect Conference. While it was not exactly what I expected, I left with some new great ideas, and new inspiration for this great ministry that I am so blessed to be a part of. We drove home Sunday, and I feel like I have been playing catch up every since. We still have Easter everywhere, and 4H project books due on Monday.
Oh and tax day…yeah!
But I wanted to share with you, one of the things that really resonated with me from the conference. It came from one of the National Team Leaders from Ecuador during the last session. He just felt compelled to “give a word.” Our conference ended with the idea that as OCC volunteer leaders, we need to be a light to the world in the communities that we are in. He said, “Show me obedient children, who are good students, and are pleasant to be around. You are the light of the world. Show me a wife who loves her husband and her children, who keeps her home, and serves God. You are the light of the world….” What a great reminder!
Sometimes, I don’t feel as thought I am a light in the world, because I am in my home so much. But that is where I am supposed to be….
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:4-5
Great reminder! In keeping my home, and raising my children, I am a light to the world as I strive to live my life in a way that does not blaspheme the word of God.
