Winter in Florida definitly has it’s perks. However, it also has it’s drawbacks. For anyone who has never experienced Florida during snowbird season, consider yourselves to be blessed. Let me start by saying I love people, especially the senior citizen population. They really have experienced so many interesting things, it’s just that I don’t want to hear about all of them while I am trying to shop with the 4 heathens in tow. Of course, I am never rude and I always listen to them go on about their children and grandchildren and where the are going to college. Anywho my issue with the snowbirds that visit our town is two fold. Number one, the vast majority of them believe that by coming to Florida each and every winter, they not only give my life meaning but also keep our small town from going belly up. Number two, they also seem to believe that all other humans that live here are of less importance. Hence, giving them the right to skip line, block isles and pull out of their parking space nearly hit your car and then honk and yell at you, because it’s obviously your fault for not yeilding to the elderly.
Ok, my rant is over, and in their defence, I have met some very sweet senior citizens who are just looking for someone to talk to them. So, I indulge them because who knows, when the heathens are all grown up, maybe they won’t want to talk to me anymore either. I mean, after all I have called them heathens for their whole lives.
