Check this out!
It’s a gun cabinet that I have been planning to strip and refinish. A task that I know well after our kitchen renovation last summer. So, I was putting it off. But, it was a Christmas present for someone, and in my quest to be done early this year (maybe this week!) I tackled the project yesterday. Guess what?? It’s done! My mother-in-law loaned me a product that antique dealers use to refinish furniture without the hassle of stripping. I thought, well, I’ll give it a try, it can’t hurt right? What’s the worst that can happen, I’ll have to strip it anyways…So I set to work. The picture above is the before of the whole cabinet.
Now here is a before of the worst side (it had paint overspray on it)…
And after…
WOW! I am still blown away!
The other side had these black and green marks on them. I think the green may have been marker…
And the after…
And the front before, see all the little nicks….
And after…
The finished product (a before and after of course)…
I am so pleased with the way this came out!!!! Would you like to know what product I used? Too bad!!
Just kidding.
I think I maybe used about and inch and a half of the stuff, not even a quarter of the bottle.
This stuff rocks!
that’s some pretty incredible stuff! do you know where it can be purchased? I’ll have to get my Google on.
Smock, My MIL said she bought it at an Antique store. My mom said she has seen it at other places too though. Definitely get your Google on and let us know what you find :)
