So, a few weeks ago I mentioned that I had finished my kitchen. I started working on refinishing the cabinets in my kitchen last summer. I can now say (almost a year later) that my kitchen is finished. For those of you who hadn’t seen my kitchen before the renovation took place here you go…..
And after….
My kitchen is bigger, but I wouldn’t want to bore you. But wait, maybe I do….
The actual cabinets and floor were completed in August. But we’ve had a few things come up and so the lettering I had been dreaming about for 6 years was put on hold. Part of the hold up was that I thought I needed to have someone else do this job for me. I had toyed with the idea of doing it myself, but after playing with some lettering one day, I decided against it. So, we got a couple of quotes from professional artists and decided that my lettering was out of the budget. Well, my good friend(and technically my aunt) Amy offered to paint it for me. I had no idea she was so talented and capable, and busy. She wouldn’t have time to do it until Spring Break. Ugghhh…I wanted to be done. I was also feeling like, you know Hubby and I have done all the work in this kitchen ourselves thus far, why not give it a try. So, while Hubby took my two oldest kiddos to the Gator National Drag Races, I gathered up all my courage and got started. I began by printing out the verse on regular paper, and then cut, taped, re-cut, re-taped, cried a little and then worked it out to look fairly evenly spaced. Next, I traced over the outer edges of the letters with some carbon paper behind, which left me a nice big coloring book to fill in. And then, I just painted and did my darndest to stay inside the lines. And this is the result….
Oh REALLY?? I want to do this in my dining room!! carbon paper… is there any of that left in this world? LOL
Ha ha! I found it at Office Depot.
and seriously – I’m the only one who commented? What in the world?
Hmmm…there was one other comment but it has disappeared. Disqus must be having issues. Although, I don’t have a very chatty following :)
