A few weeks ago we wrapped up our study of the Middle Ages. I have to say that I am really enjoying My Father’s World Curriculum, and am very thankful that we found it when we did. It has given my kiddos a great understanding of history.
We wrapped up our unit by crafting swords and shields from duct tape. It ended up being an exercise in critical thinking as well. I didn’t give any directions, only supplies.
As you can seen each child had their own unique approach to designing and creating their medieval weaponry.
After learning about Constantine the Great, Tootle wanted her shield to have a cross on it and the Chi-Rho.
Little Man got serious about his sword.
He even made a sheath for it.
He and Tootle attacked Mr. OverKill when he came home from work.
Scary, I know.
The big kids even enjoyed this school assignment.
I mean, what 13 year old doesn’t like duct tape???
He and Shug went a little more modern with their designs.
What a hoot.
Bubba also built a castle gate.
Complete with working gate :)
And one little archer protecting the whole thing.
Fun!
