I wanted to write a quick post to remind my Floridians that September is the time to get your gardens planted. Last week I had the kids each tackle a garden row and pull weeds and loosen dirt.
They did a great job and worked hard.
Bubba spent some time fixing a few leaks in the sprinkler system.
And Little Man helped me to harvest or sweet potatoes for the summer.
See I worked too…..
Don’t you just hate gardening gloves? I’m sure this picture is grossing my mom out…but I really did start of with gloves on, but they are always so uncomfortable…and there’s just something about getting your hands dirty when you garden. Don’t you agree?
Last season, Bubba was my foreman for the garden. This year, all the kids wanted in on the action, so I now have a foreman for tomatoes, a foreman for green beans, a foreman for salad fixins and a foreman over broccoli…..this should be interesting.
I also thought I would link you back to my gardening page for tips and tricks…and beautiful photos :)
What are you growing this season?
I love your garden and I agree with you about getting your hands dirty. HaHa! :) The season is almost over in Georgia. I grew Tomatoes and Cucumbers and my Jalapenos, Bell Peppers and Herbs (Pineapple Sage, Rosemary, Lavender, Greek Oregano & Greek Basil) are still growing. I didn’t have any luck with my Onions or Watermelon, but my Peach Tree, Pineapple Plant and a Aloe Plant are doing good. My grandfather says I am a “City Farmer”, because I grew everything in terra cotta pots. I would love to see how your garden is doing throughout the season. Keep me posted. Love, Katina
