This year our 4th of July was pretty low key. Mr. OverKill had to work, so the kids and I hung out at the house and got things nice and festive. Starting with t-shirts and bow ties for the boys, topped off with patriotic sunglasses.
Not to be outdone, the girls made shirts, matching shirts for their American Girl Dolls, and hair accessories.
The kids were also busy working on their patriotic memory work, The Star Spangled Banner…all of it. Have you read the lyrics to The Star Spangled Banner lately? It’s really interesting how we weren’t so politically correct back then.
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps’ pollution.
Hmm….Moving on.
I was busy making…well, I only made the potato salad. When Mr. OK got to the house, he cooked up some amazing ribs and corn.
Then, in typical Mr. OverKill fashion, he produced these huge sparklers for the kiddos to play with, and a bag full of firecrackers and “bombs.”
The kids thoroughly enjoyed those sparklers.
Our small town dropped the ball a bit and our fireworks display was held on the 5th.
Ah well, they were beautiful, and the fam had an excuse to go out for ice cream.
Hope you had a great day celebrating our country’s freedom.
I miss y’all! I think David and Margaret are tete for tete with the height! That is so funny!
