Over the last couple of weeks I did some major sprucing up around the house. Various kiddos attended various summer day camps, which left me with some time on my hands (ha ha!) Several weeks ago I repainted and redecorated the kids bathroom. I promise I will post pics of it soon, as soon as I remember to snap a few shots when it is actually clean. (Boy, that’s quite the combination for you to wait on ;) Anywho, fixing up the bathroom inspired me to also give the foyer a facelift. I was also motivated to update the foyer so that it would be more conducive to customers coming and going for Cravings.
At the last minute I did remember to snap a pic of the foyer’s color before I repainted.
This wall had 2 frame M.C. Escher prints on it, and a small foyer table. The opposite wall, near the door help a hat rack, both of which you will see shortly.
So, here is the full view of the new foyer.
I am totally amazed at how great the front door looks with a fresh coat of paint.
This is the wall from the first picture. As you can see, I now have both pieces on this wall. I decided to keep the table empty so that we can stack orders waiting for customers to pick up.
I opted not to use the hat rack for hats, just to be sure we didn’t end up with a hat in someone’s peach cobbler. Besides, I think these pics of the kids are cuter than hats!
I really didn’t want to hang anything on the entry wall near to the door. When I had the hat rack there, it seemed that people were constantly hitting their head’s on the rack as they opened the door. Can you say not customer friendly??? Well, I decided upon this….
I found the idea on Pinterest. Someone is creating and selling custom vinyl prints very similar to this. I am scared of vinyl lettering. It’s just…I feel like it’s a one shot deal, you know? So, I created my own monogram, and made it into a poster. Then, using the same technique I used on the border in my kitchen, I created an outline and painted away. I am very pleased with the result.
I also spruced up the front porch area. We cleaned up the arbor and front garden. I also added these lovely succulents to my ladder planter.
I dressed it up for the Fourth and Labor day.
I love succulents!
After I saw how great the front door looked with a fresh coat of paint, I decided to paint the back door. As you can see it needed something!
After brief deliberation, I decided to paint the door in an accent color, a nice dark burgundy to accent the wallpaper on the adjacent wall.
And I LOVE it! Every time I walked by the door for the first week, I smiled.
Last but not least, after I purchased all the succulents for the front porch, they went on sale, wouldn’t you know it! So, I bought some more, and got these cute rose terra cotta pots to put them in and lined them up on my kitchen window.
So much nicer to see than a yucky window ledge :)
And there you have it! I’ve been a busy lady, but it’s been very much worth it!!!
