I was watching a show this morning while I was cleaning my kitchen and when asked a young boy, “Why is this illusion so important to you?” He responded, “This can’t be all there is.”
His simple statement really struck a chord with me. How many of us spend our days chasing illusions because this can’t be all there is….. We all have different illusions that get us through the day…a career, children, volunteer work, golf, money, being the best at whatever it is that you do…. These things are not necessarily bad things, but they can easily delude us. We get a fantastic feeling when are excelling in our illusions, and that feeling makes us think, “This is what it’s all about!”
In reality, whatever your illusion is, it isn’t what it’s all about. The Bible says that we were created to glorify God and enjoy Him for ever (1 Corinthians 10:31, Romans 11:36, Psalm 73:24-26, John 17:22,24). Have you ever given thought to how your life can give glory to God? The whole point of you, is that you would glorify God! When we fashion our lives to bring glory to God, we no longer feel the dissatisfaction of this life. We no longer feel empty…we feel fulfilled, and we are complete.
And that my friends, is was it’s all about, that is ALL there is.
