Yesterday was my father’s birthday. We had a huge surprise birthday bash for him on Saturday. It was great, he was totally clueless and was totally surprised. I think the best part about the whole day was being able to see friends that we haven’t seen in years. It was so fun to catch up with them and talk about old times. Hopefully I will get to post some pictures soon. My camera had died, so I am at the mercy of my sister.
Yesterday was also my birthday. Yes, dad and I share a birthday, just a few years apart though. It’s neat to share a birthday with my father. I think it gives us a special connection. But after a busy weekend of party prep, partying, clean up, and then an all day function at church on Sunday, my biggest request for my birthday was peace and quiet. So, my dear Hubby surprised me by taking the afternoon off, arranging for a babysitter and took me away for a peaceful, quiet, fun evening. We ended up going to the movies (which, can I just say $30.00 to go to the movies is ABSOLUTELY outrageous) to see Prince Caspian.
I have really been looking forward to seeing this movie. I really enjoyed it, but I will say, I won’t be taking my kiddos any time soon. There were quite a few more battle scenes in this one.
Then, we went to get my new favorite treat….
Yes, I am finally a grown up now, I drink coffee. My new favorite is the Starbucks white chocolate mocha. If you’ve never had one, you are missing out!
So, after recharging at Starbucks we went to JoAnn Fabrics and I got material for my girl’s dance recital costumes. I think they are going to be cute, and I am saving a small fortune by making them myself.
After we left Joann’s we went shopping for my birthday present. Now, I know this sounds really bad, but my Hubby was trying to make sure I got what I wanted, and since it was a big purchase, it was the best way to handle it. So, this is what I got….
A Canon S5 IS. I haven’t had much time to play with it, but so far I am pleased with it. I am planning to go get a bigger memory card for it tomorrow so I can really get a good feel for it. Thanks Dave and Sandy (my camera aficionado friends) for helping me decide which camera to get.
After picking out my camera, we grabbed dinner at one of my favorite restaurants…
I think I may have scared our waiter a little bit, because I brought my new toy in to mess with while we waited for our food. It was kind of fun.
So, I would have to say this was defintely one of my favorite birthdays yet!
