Last weekend we went camping with a group of families from our church. We had a really great time. The park we camped at boasted having “the most challenging bike trails in Florida.” I thought, “Good for them.” and that was all the consideration I gave to the biking trails.
That is until the Woo WOOoooo girl showed up on Saturday. Who is this Woo WOOoooo Girl? She’s been mentioned here on the blog before… let’s see…not directly, but she was one of those crazy brave women my friends and I were admiring because of their amazing fitness. You can read about it in my post, The Frazzled Mama Triathlon.
The Woo WOOoooo Girl has been a huge help encouraging me in my running. She is such an adventurer and has an uncanny knack for creating a desire in people to do adventurous things with her.
For example, I suddenly found myself wanting to go on the bike trails with the Woo WOOoooo Girl and her partner in crime, PK-PW (pastor’s kid, pastor’s wife). So, 5 of us set out to conquer the bike trails, The Frazzled Mama, Mrs. Doodle Bop, PK-PW, the Woo WOOoooo Girl, and Flip Flop Babe.
We were assured that we would stay on the green course (green means easy). I have proof that we did not stay on the green course. See the sign in the lower right hand corner. That would be a blue sign, indicating that it is a blue course…hmmm…. Do you also see the Woo WOOoooo Girl at the top of that loverly hill?
Here’s a better shot….
She just had to try out that hill…
It really was a beautiful ride…
….except for the places with thick sand…
and the places that were so narrow I had to walk my bike through…
and the places where the roots jumped up and grabbed your ankles….
and the bridges that led to hills with roots that threw off my balance and made me crash… (yes I have the bruises to prove it)
But what a trip!!!! I wouldn’t have traded that afternoon for anything!!!
Plus, I remembered how much I like riding trails. What a blast!!! I’ve been riding with the kids everyday this week. Although, if we’re going to hit some serious trails, I may need to get a different bike…
My pink Roxie beach cruiser definitely got a few looks from the pros on the trails ;)
Why is she called the WooWOOoooo girl? Because that’s the closest I can get in writing to the noise she would make whenever the trail got…interesting. Love ya girl!!!
Why Flip Flop Babe? True story, she road for 2 hours on those trails in FLIP FLOPS! The Babe part? She would be the one in the baby seat ;) Love you too girl!!!
