So, Monday was Mom’s Night Out for our homeschool group. One of the mom’s in our group(who was not in attendance that night, and no we weren’t talking directly about her so it wasn’t gossip, besides it was all nice. I feel better now:) recently participated in the Nocturnal Challenge, by Pangea Adventure Race (not sure if that’s the official name or not). Basically these ladies set out at like 2:00am and biked, hiked, zip-lined, and kayaked until the sun came up, like 5 hours. The other mom’s and I were laughing and saying, there’s no way we could do something like that right now.
We then started to discuss why someone would want to do something like that. For some people it’s the thrill of accomplishment, for others the challenge, and for some, the bragging rights. You would never really need to worry about having something interesting to say at a social function ever again..
“So, what do you do for fun?” “Who, me? Well, I participate in triathlons.” At which point all attention in the room would then focus on you…
So, I started thinking….I need to organize “The First Annual Frazzled Mama Triathlon”. Catchy, no? We could have each event be oh….10 feet.. 10 feet of jogging, 10 feet of swimming, 10 feet of biking, get the idea?
Or, we could just get totally wacky and have each event be “momified”. How fast can you change 30 diapers, how quickly can you dress an octopus (we wouldn’t want to use actual toddlers), make a science project in under 5 minutes using only the contents of your van. Of course, this event would also need to take place after you have been kept awake for a least 2 nights prior.
Then, all of us who are “not in shape” could be the center of attention. It would be awesome, especially when they look at me, The Frazzled Mama, so out of shape from 4 kiddos (all c-sections), and all my medical garbage and think,
“Wow she’s really let herself go…”
In all seriousness though, you ladies rock!
Bring it on, baby! :)
I am so surprised you did not mention this little article this past weekend. I think your tri sounds like a great idea, I am in.
Sus
For some reason I thought you had already seen it…hmm…maybe my tri should also involve cold water…. ;)
