Have you noticed that things have been very quiet and very….shallow around here lately? It’s not that I haven’t been writing, I have. It’s just that what I have been writing has been really personal, really emotional, and the topics could be a little….touchy. I am working on a few pieces to share here on the blog, but I really feel like they aren’t quite ready to be “out there.”
I will say though, that I have been feeling really good. Good enough that I got the urge to start sewing again. Believe it or not, it had been almost two years since I had sewn anything! Well…anything to speak of. But when I saw this design, I had to give it a try.
Aren’t they cute??? I meant the shirts and barrettes, although the girls are cute too :)
I was a little intimidated, because I had never done any appliques to speak of…
But these were SO easy!!!!
And I love the colors. My Sis picked them out for me. I already had the jewel-tone purple baby corduroy (thanks Bekah!) So my Sis went in search of colors to compliment the purple, but still looked fall-ish. She did great, didn’t she?
The girls really enjoyed their new outfits. If you look closely at the close up of the shirt, you can see that I didn’t actually applique the design onto their shirts. My thing is, they pinned on very nicely and that way, the new shirts aren’t worn once or twice, and then put away until next year. Now, I can make a Christmas design and the girls will have something new for Christmas too, which will also save us some money.
I know, ultra frugal!!!
