I really am! But I think this one is going to make you laugh.
A few years back, when I decided to move from my big hometown to a nice small town to become a spinster school teacher, my mother helped me get some old furniture ready for my new house. My absolute favorite piece that she recovered for me was lovingly called “The Book Couch.” The material was fabulous! Sturdy, and oh so attractive. The couch itself was rock solid and very comfy.
Mr. OverKill and I watched our first movie together on that couch – opposite ends of course – to start with anyways :) I graded papers on that couch, took long naps on that couch, read fabulous books on that couch.
When we were first married, Mr. OK and I decided to sell my house and live in his bachelor pad for a while. We were contemplating moving one small town south of where we were, and thought it would be a great way to save money. The problem was, I was living in a 4 bedroom house, and we were moving into a single wide mobile home. Yikes! Needless to say, some things had to go, and The Book Couch was one of them. I think I may have even cried a little…The nice thing about it though, was that The Book Couch was going to live with Mr. OK’s aunt and uncle, so I would get to visit it every so often. That was 11 years ago.
Fast-forward 4 years, and we finally bought a house, and I said more than once, I wish we still had The Book Couch. sigh…
Fast-forward to the present. It’s been 11 years since we parted with The Book Couch. Then, out of the blue, Mr. OK’s aunt calls and says they have decided they need more room in their family room, and have decided to part with……you guessed it, The Book Couch. She called me first to see if I wanted it! I almost let reason kick in by saying, “I’m not sure where I would put it.” But then, I just knew I would find a place for it, so I said, “Yes, absolutely!”
Well, Mr. OK’s uncle delivered the couch early this afternoon.
And yes, I am so blessed. Isn’t it funny what things trigger memories?
For the rest of the afternoon, every time I passed The Book Couch, I would smile and get that warm fuzzy feeling…memories…ahhh!
