When we moved into our house, my Grandmother gave us her dining room table, buffet, and china cabinet. It is very pretty and very much an antique (in my eyes). She raised her family on it, and wanted me to have it for my family.
Well, we have been using the table, just like she wanted us to. Sadly, I didn’t know how to take proper care of the table and we ended up with several white/hot spots. I tried my best to clean the table up, but was unable to take out the white spots. So, we used tablecloths. Then, a few months ago we noticed that one of the legs of the table was coming apart.
Providentially, a couple of months ago, a local furniture repair man needed some work done by Mr. OverKill, and we were able to trade out work for part of the price of fixing our table.
Pretty, isn’t it?
I wish I had pictures of the table before. I did somewhere….but I seem to have lost them.
The most amazing thing about this whole project is how the claw feet came out. They were DARK brown when we sent the table off to be repaired.
This is how they look now.
Unbeknownst to us, the claw feet were solid brass! Who knew.
Now, I need to see if the hardware on the buffet cleans up that nice!
I think I asked about the repair guy before, but could you email me his name? My table needs work, too! Smiles,
Anna
