Again, I have already been reprimanded for not posting yesterday. It has been an interesting few days for me. Sugar Belle had been sick all last week, and despite all my efforts to keep the rest of us well, I got sick. Which really is a blessing though because I would rather be sick than my kiddos, as they have not yet learned to suck it up and get on with life even with a runny nose and sore throat. Any who, my head cold has actually been kind of hit and miss. It decided to hit last night while I was at our homeschool co-op’s Christmas party. I ended up leaving early. It’s not so much congestion or sore throat for me, but I think it may be inner ear. Why? I keep getting a little light headed, dizzy and nauseated.
That being said, I had a thought (as I am sitting really still at my computer:) about priorities. This blog is not my priority. It is definitely a great way for me to save some memories for my kids, have a creative outlet (I love to write), and hopefully, just maybe, be an encouragement to someone. So where are my priorities? Well, I have tried to order them how I see that God would have me order them.
36Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 22:36-40
So, my first priority should be God, serving Him, worshiping Him, loving Him. Then my second is the people around me. That covers a lot of people. My earthly relationships are given priority over one another due to circumstances, etc. But as a general rule, my list of priorities after God are: my Husband, our children, our extended family, friends, church, and last “other” activities. This blog falls under “other” activities. I love it here in Frazzled Mama Land, but it’s just not a top priority. Yesterday, one of my higher priorities required me to sleep in and not blog at 5:00am, another took up my morning and another my afternoon.
I would encourage you to look seriously at your priorities. Sometimes, hard decisions about how to spend our time are made easier when we have a concrete idea of where our priorities should lie.
Well, I hope that you know that I love reading your blogs. I also hope that you know that in no way would I ever want you to feel pressure from me about not posting. I hope and pray that you know that I understand when it doesn’t get done…priorities have taken a front seat (as they should). I pray that you are encouraged by knowing that people love to hear what you have to say. So, please don’t feel any pressure from me. I love you as a sister in Christ and I still find it amazing that you even have time to blog once a week. So…I promise to not ask about the blogs…I’ll just enjoy the ones I get the priviledge to read.
