This is a new term for me. Cash Christmas. The idea is that you only spend cash on Christmas gifts, no plastic please. This idea goes right along with the Advent Conspiracy movement. Without knowing, Mr. OverKill and I have always been part of the Cash Christmas movement. In almost 10 years of marriage we have never gone into debt for a Christmas gift. Maybe that is why we have never had the big blow-out Christmases…. Anywho, for those of you who are looking for some great gift ideas, with small price tags, visit the Cash Christmas over at Cindy’s Porch. She has tons of ideas for a less expensive Christmas, make sure to check out her ABC’s of holiday gift giving. While you’re there, check out the printable forms she has for Christmas to-do list and gift list. I love her gift list becasue it has a little space for you to write down where you hid the present. Handy, right Sandy???
I never knew it had a name either. But in all 15 years of our marriage we have always paid cash for our gifts. Sadly, it means this year the children will not be getting gifts form us or each other this year, but they will get one from Grandma and GrandDaddy. I just don’t see why people do that to themselves. There is enough stress around the Holidays anyway, add in poor economic choices, and it’s no wonder people “hate the holidays.”
