After being chastized this morning by my good friend about the lack of posts over the weekend, and then the quick post this morning I feel the need to vindicate myself and post twice today :) (Love ya Renee!)
We have never really done huge Christmases here in Frazzled Mama World. As much as I would like to, we never have done the all out, “get ’em everything on their list” Christmas. We have pretty much pared it down to one “big/good” gift per child. However, I do get to give my kiddos a bit more by making them gifts. Each year, they all get a new pair of PJ’s made by me, that they get to open and wear on Christmas Eve. Then, I try to get them maybe second hand things (like copies of books they are continuously checking out at the library) or hand-made by me things to add bit more to their “present experience.” For example, this year, I made sleeping bags for Sugar Belle and Tootle Bug’s American Girl Dolls. I have posted a tutorial over at the Tricks of the Trade page for anyone who might have an American Girl in their life. Garage sales abound in Florida at this time of the year, and I take advantage of them! There is nothing worng with giving your kid a gently used item for Christmas. Many times, they don’t even realized that it is used, and if they do, it’s a good thing to help them realize early that new doesn’t always mean better. And, if you think about it, 10 minutes after a toy is opened, it is used…
As I go through my preparation for Christmas, I will post a few more ideas here, as they come to me. Sadly, I am a bit behind in my goal to have everything finished up before December 1st, but I am still working at it!
Don’t forget to go check out My Tricks of the Trade Page to see the tutorial on Doll Sleeping Bags.
PS, I apologize for any grammatical or spelling errors, but I’ve sewing to do!!!!!
Sadly I am living life on the outside through this website…Gratefully I am blessed by this wonderful, Godly, amazing woman and her family. Thank you for this…I don’t know if you realized how much you inspire me as a woman, a wife, a mother, a child of God! I praise Him for you and example. Thank you!
Okay…I have had either too much chocolate or too much coffee…What I meant to write for the last line of my last comment was…”I praise Him for you and the example that you are (or is it…the example you have set.”?) Yeah, too much coffee and chocolate! LOL! Love Ya!!!
I’m just saying…
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
Renee
