As I mentioned we went camping this past weekend at Myakka River State Park. It was kind of a last minute thing, we were going, then we weren’t, then we were, you get the picture. The main reason we wanted to go was to try out our new “toy”.
Three days after we got back from camping at Ft. Desoto we bought this camper. It was a steal of a deal.
This is our family room.
The couch folds out to double as a bed. That’s where we slept. I put that throw over the couch in an attempt to cover that velour-type material. Sadly, my beloved throw had gotten bleached. Oh well, I tried :)
Our kitchen, this was SO nice. No more coolers for me! I have a mini-fridge now!
This is the actual bedroom. The kiddos slept here, three on the bed and one on the bunk. That cabinet with the duct tape on it (not sure why that’s there) folds down into a bunk. It will be the subject of many fights for the next few years, I can tell.
Mr. Overkill made a few repairs to it, and made it so water-tight, I think we could weather a hurricane in it. So, of course after all that hard work he was anxious to take it out and have some fun.
We had fun walking the trails, especially the canopy walk. If you have never been to Myakka, and gone on the canopy walk, you should!
The views from the top of the tower are AMAZING!
We even had our own little Fall Festival, since the kids missed the one at their Grandparent’s church, with guest apperances from…
Mary,
Princess Leia (sort of),
a biker dude,
complete with tatoos,
and last, but not least, Indiana Jones….
Complete with duct tape bull whip.
I think they had a pretty good time!
We also had another first this trip, all four kiddos on bikes!
Let me tell you, this was the only time this little guy was behind. Any time that he did fall behind, he let the whole park know about it with his horn!
This is one happy camper!
Bubba and Sugarbelle also completed the Junior Ranger Program during our stay.
The Junior Ranger Program, is really neat, and the kiddos learned so much from the experience, that I am counting it for school!
We had a fabulous time! Sorry for the huge long post, but I missed talking to you all and I didn’t want you to miss a thing :)
Stay tuned for a cute Thanksgiving craft!
That is quite a “toy” I especially like the Duct tape on the cabinets.
Sandy
Yeah, not sure why the duct tape was there. Maybe the previous owner thought they would open up while their kid was sleeping up there. I do believe we have since removed it!
