This year, we opted not to attend our church on Wednesday nights. The Olympians program is awesome, and it was not the classes that were the problem. It was the late night it gave us. Classes let out at 7:30pm, which put us home around 8:00ish. Shoudn’t be a big deal right? But then there is the whole getting the kids to bed deal, which put us around 8:30ish before the kiddos are in bed. Brace yourselves, my three younger kiddos are usually in bed at 7:00pm. So, this creates a really late night for us, followed by a really grouchy set of students the next morning.
So, this year, I was taking the kiddos to another church (I know!) for their Kids for Christ program. The beauty in this program is that they are not only learning Bible verses and stories, but they are also taught music, choir singing, handbells, percussion. Really cool. The best part, this program runs from 2:15-6:00. Advantages, #1 a free afternoon with only 1 kiddo, #2 very affordable music lessons #3 home and eating supper by 6:15, and in bed roughly on time.
However, Mr. OK and I have felt a little funny about bailing on our church, and about sending the kiddos to another church. I have been feeling like I am being selfish (which I am) to keep going with the program at the other church.
So, Sunday our Pastor preached about the love Christ had for us. He walked a hard road, knowing what was at the end of it (cranky kiddos is nothing compared), but he served His Father. Pastor posed the question at the end,
Because of Christ’s love for you, how will you serve Him?
Man, talk about getting me. I need to be with my church family, my kiddos need to be with their church family, with the people who know them and love them.
So, tonight we will be at our church, and tomorrow, we may all just sleep in!
PS In the spirit of rushed dinners and late nights, I have posted a easy crockpot dinner idea on my Tricks of the Trade page!
