I have been out of town with my very dear friend for a Silent Weekend. What is a Silent Weekend you ask? Just what it implies, you don’t talk. At least, not with your voice, with your hands! Basically it is a weekend of workshops to help you improve your skills in American Sign Language (ASL). I had been looking forward to going, and was really excited, until I go there and was surrounded by so many talented signers. I felt totally out of my league. My dear friend is an ASL interpreter, so she was right at home, and I was so glad that she was with me, because I needed some help! She encouraged me to take classes I would not have otherwise, and she definitely knew what I needed to learn more about. I was pushed way out of my comfort zone, but it was a good thing. At one point I was ready to go home and never sign anything again. But, I got over it and now I am even more enthusiastic about learning more about ASL.
Oh, and I will post more about my new camera when I get the chance to actually use it some!
