This is a very simple lapbook, that can easily be completed by the student in a week. It only took me about 1 hour to assemble 2 of these lapbooks. As I said in an earlier post I used some of the ideas, templates, and clipart from Valerie over at http://christianpreschoolprintables.com/blog1/?p=87. I also used some activity sheets from www.enchantedlearning.com. So, let’s get right to the pictures.
This is the cover, very self-explanatory. I also have some additional clipart for the kids to use to add their own decoration.
First folder…
In this folder I have the memory verse for the theme, and right under it is a space for the kiddos to copy the verse. Then, I used several of the minibooks from Valerie (at Lapbook Lessons.com and Christianpreschoolprintables.com), these have room inside for the kids to write the answers they find to the question on the cover. Last, but not least, we have some vocabulary words. This is flap book, each section opens up to a blank space for the kiddos to write the definition of each word.
Second folder…
First, is the Firework colors page. I am really excited about this one, and I think Hubby is too. He wants to try to find the chemical compounds and really experiment with them. He is such a pyromaniac, but that’s a whole other post! Next, we have a map of the USA, to be used with the accordion-style page below it on the right. We also have a portion of the Declaration of Independence, for the students to read and possibly memorize. And then, the Hot Dog. I really like that one because I know the kiddos will LOVE it! Next, we have a flag with a little song on it, and finally one more Bible Verse.
On the back flap of the second folder, I added the USA Shape clipart with the lyrics to “God Bless America” in it.
I have a few other pages that I chose not to incorporate into the lapbook, for the sake of trying to be neat. Basically, I have some handwriting based on Psalm 199:45. As well as, handwriting for our National Anthem, which you can get free this week only at http://www.currclick.com/. I am also planning to do some of the crafts at http://lapbooklessons.ning.com/HolidayLapbooks. I also found this neat-o game for the kids, and the rest of the site is pretty neat too, http://www.constitutioncenter.org/explore/ForKids/index.shtml
We really love lapbooks. I always enjoy putting them together, and the kids enjoy the change of pace they bring to our Homeschool.
