I have tried baked ziti many many times and never been too happy with the product. But I finally tweeked enough recipes and came up with this one, that I absolutely love. I may have to make it for dinner tonight! You know what else I love about it? It’s super easy! Let’s get cookin!
Start by boiling a pot of salted water, for the pasta of your choice(12-16 oz).
I didn’t have any ziti on hand, so I used Bow Ties. Hey, it’s pasta!
While you are waiting on your water to boil, or pasta to cook, in bowl combine…
1 cup of cottage cheese (we had fat free for Mr. OverKill)
1 cup of sour cream (lowfat for us)
and 1 cup (more or less) of shredded mozzerella cheese…
and mix it up.
Drain your pasta…
And then, you start layering. Don’t panic if it seems a bit thin, trust me, you will have plenty.
Start with a layer of pasta, half of what you made…then spoon half of the cheese mixture on top of the pasta…
Let me pause to apologize for the pictures. My camera and I were not getting along that day.
OK, then you are going to add half a package of Provolone Cheese…
Next, you are going to add some spaghetti sauce. I had some leftover from Monday night, so I used that. You can use which-ever kind makes your skirt fly up.
Then, repeat with the remaining ingredients . Make sure your top layer of sauce covers well, or you will have dried out pasta.
Sprinkle the top with a little Parmesan, and bake for about 20 minutes at 350 degrees. The goal is to have melted cheese, I always watch for bubbles, once it’s bubbling good, it’s done.
Your finished product, yum-o. Pair this with these yummy Herbed Bread Sticks over at Kayotic Kitchen, de-lish!
Oh boy, I’m gonna have to make it sometime this weekend. Thanks for the recipe :)
Thank You! After the Stubborn Nefews Father had this last week he said “I could eat this every night”. So I wondered if the Frazzled Mama would be willing to give up the recipe…….so THANKS! And to everyone out there it is Delicious!
Yum! Yep .. we’ll be doing that one!
I’m going to try this. PS. I LOVE this site.
