I love my crockpot, it has become a major lifesaver on busy nights, whether it be gymnastics, soccer, or church.
This is my crockpot…
My Mom gave this to me a few Christmases ago. I had a prefectly good crockpot at the time, and so this one was kind of a backup. Well, after using it a few times, it has now become my main crock pot, and the other is my backup. This one has several nice features, like a locking lid and an insulated travel bag. As you can see I have used it so much that the temperature gauge came off! Of course I just fixed that right up with my Sharpie. :)
So, tonight I am making Greek Chicken for dinner. I threw in the frozen chicken leg quarters earlier this morning, with all the seasonings and let it cook at high for a few hours. Then, after lunch I added the potatoes and carrots and turned the heat down to low.
First of all, let me say that yes, those are canned potatoes. Before you say eeewwww, let me say that when cooked properly (like in a slow cooker) you can’t tell the difference. And on busy days, they are a big time saver. Also, yes canned carrots.
Now this photo was taken right after I added the potatoes and carrots. As they cook, they will look even yummier. But with church tonight, I know I won’t be able to get any pics of the food when it is all done. Still, I think it looks good.
Yum! And something I NEVER do….here is my recipe for Greek Chicken:
The Frazzled Mama’s Greek Chicken
Place 4 chicken leg quarters or 1 whole chicken (or whatever you got:) into the crockpot. Drizzle with Olive Oil, make sure every piece of chicken gets some oil, or the spices won’t stick. Next sprinkle all of the chicken with: onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Of course, you could use the real thing on the onions and garlic, but remember this is a time saver recipe. Cook on high for 5-6 hours or on low for 9-10 hours. Now if you have used a frozen chicken, you will want to cook it on high until it is thawed and slightly warm to the touch. Then enjoy!
Seeings how your giving out recipes…………the stubborn Nefew says that I need your doughnut recipe because he could then have them whenever he wants to. Apparently he doesn’t know his mother all that well. I would much rather go buy doughnuts!
I was actually working on a post about doughnuts, but I didn’t think it would be of any interested to anyone. But maybe now I will! Bacon is on the menu for tomorrow!
Was wondering if any liquid is addd, wanted to add fresh potatoes etc.
Definitely! Sometimes I just add water or broth to nearly cover the contents.
