Some of you may have seen my dismal failure at creating a temporary chicken run for Little Man’s 3 pullets that were cooped up all the time.
It really was a disaster. I was hoping to reuse one of the kids old play tents, just to give the poor chickens some room to stretch, even if it was only temporary. When this happened, I went to plan B.
The feathered ladies were glad to have room to scratch and take their dirt baths. But, when Mr. OverKill got home he kind of shook his head and sighed. I’m guessing his inner thoughts ran something along the line of, "Wow….my wife is….a keeper."
Ha ha. Whatever his inner thoughts were, Sunday after church we went straight to the Big Orange Box store and he gathered some supplies, for this….
Isn’t it awesome?!?! It’s a chicken tractor….well…maybe a better name would be a chicken litter. Litter, isn’t that the word???? Yes, I believe so.
The point is, this coop is light enough for us to move around the yard with the nifty built in poles. The theory being that the hens won’t totally ruin the grass, and our yard will get fertilized naturally. ;)
