Last week we celebrated Bubba’s 14th birthday. Some days I feel like I’ve been a mom forever, and others I think, wasn’t he just two????
Moving on… We invited friends and family over for burgers and a bon fire to celebrate.
Sugar Belle wanted to make his cake this year (sniff sniff). A tractor plowing up the land….yeah.
Mr. OverKill gave Bubba a hard time about wanting to light his own candles. Isn’t there a law against that?
He told me that the cookies were hay bales, and he wanted them to look like they had caught fire. Pyromaniac much???
He got some pretty hilarious gifts, and a wad of cash! He has been saving up to buy a special item, and had asked for money rather than gifts to help get him closer to his goal.
After he had opened his last card, we totaled up the money, and then I told him I had a game for him to play, called “Let’s Make a Deal.”
I pulled out a blue gift and told him that I would trade him what I had in my hands for his cash.
He had to think about it for a while, and took some heckling from the crowd.
It was great!
Little Man thinks he knows what is in the box, and he looks like he might just explode!
Bubba was being so calm, so cool…so collected.
Score! It was what he wanted!!!! Tootle Bug was snapping pics for me and she starting ragging on Bubba telling him that he didn’t seem very excited. So he pretended to freak out, and we got a pic.
Too funny!
A day or so after his birthday, I snapped this picture on my phone. I was suddenly struck with love and pride as I watched him, grubby and greasy from the shop, sitting there, playing classical guitar(of which he is self taught).
What a neat young man he is turning out to be and I feel so blessed to be called his mom.
