Yesterday on Facebook, Connie over at Smockity Frocks post this to her Facebook wall:
I recently heard a preacher challenge the congregation to do this for 30 days straight:
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
I think I can prevent the unwholesome part, but ONLY what is helpful and beneficial??? That sounds tougher.
He said it would change our lives if we developed this habit. I think I’ll give it a try. Who’s with me?
It’s funny, because this has been on my mind quite a bit of late. It started with the realization the I was replying to the kiddos frequently with the statement, “I don’t care.” For example someone would ask, “Mom can I watch a movie?” I would reply with “I don’t care.” It occurred to me that this may not be the best choice of words. How many times in a week was I actually saying “I don’t care” to my kids? Now, I know that I am not saying I don’t care about them, however….you that theory about hearing something enough times, and then you start believing it? Yeah…
So, I chose to modify my speech. It took about a month, but now my go to response is, “I don’t mind.”
After reading Connie’s post last night, I created this Bible verse card to put on my kitchen window.
As always, feel free to download and print the Bible verse card.
Well, Ms. Connie has issued a challenge, one that I am going to accept.
I do believe I am even going to have my kiddos join in this challenge! Will you join us too????
UPDATE!!! Since the boys are joining me on this one, I made them a “tough guys” Bible verse card. Again feel free to print and enjoy!
