Have I ever mentioned that Mr. OverKill loves, and I do mean loves, my long hair? Sure enough, I have! Well, it has reached all new lengths here lately… I’m talking waist length…It’s never been this long.
Over the last year or so, I have been trying to figure it out. It’s long, frizzy, half curly, half straight. Sigh…most days I just put it in a bun or French braid. Styling it to wear it down is quite the challenge.
But, I am resolving to try a few different things to hopefully make this mane more manageable.
There are so many tutorials and great ideas on the web and Pinterest, but many of them don’t work so great on waist length hair.
My first attempt was the sock bun. You know, you roll your slightly damp hair into a bun and sleep on it. Website promise gorgeous curls…these were mine…
Hmmm…not really looking so fab y’all.
So, I decided to attempt curling my tresses with this method. (Note: I did not use the Moroccan Oil.)
After burning my hand, killing my arm, and waaayyyy too much time, this is the result.
Not bad….
But I’m doubtful they will last me all day, much less a few….
We shall see….
Sorry, this is what happens when you have an overzealous seven year old photographer.
Do you have super long, or unruly hair? What tricks do you use to keep your tresses tamed?
UPDATE: Had I thought it through, I would have waited to post this until the end of the day. After about an hour the frizzies returned. By the end of the day, my hair was a mess :( I suppose with more product this style might work for me, but it sure was a lot of effort for short-lived results.
I find my hair is frizzy if just left to airdry. The only way I like to wear it down is if I flat iron it, and that usually lasts me three days before I have to wash it.
Wow!!! Three days??? My hair is super frizzy if left to air dry, but has to be washed every day…every other at the very most!
Wow, three days??? I have to wash mine daily, at the most maybe every other day. But it is still super frizzy. Been thinking about trying baking soda and vinegar to replace shampoo and conditioner, but I’m afraid of the frizzies!
apple cider vinegar is an awesome conditioner/rinse and helps awesomely with frizz :-) I was using it and loving how soft my normally frizzy hair was – the only reason I stopped using it was because I also have very oily roots/scalp and I was having a problem keeping a balance of smoothing the frizz and not amping up the oil :-) hope this helps!
I have the long hair, but mine is super curly. I feel quite the same about my hair…..you always want what you can’t have. Wish I had straight hair so i could just brush and go. No brushing here. And curly hair can only be worn curly unless professionally straightened. So i give up and just deal w/ the curls, which tend to be frizzy if i don’t use Ouidad. Kitty had asked me for sugg. for Scarlett’s hair and I told her that’s the only thing I have found that works through Florida heat and humidity. It’s a bit pricey but 1 bottle lasts me prob 6 mo. and I was able to give up all other products that I was spending $$$ on besides sham/cond.
