I found this today on Pinterest. I had to share it!
I can totally relate, can you? I’ve updated my motto to “It’s not about you, so have more grace!”
I am currently involved in so many different situations that require extra grace…and it can be exhausting!
Sometimes when we are loving, supporting, and encouraging others it can be draining. Days, weeks, sometimes months of selflessly serving others can leave us feeling used and sometimes selfish.
Not only when dealing with tough circumstances, but also simply dealing with the everyday life. We know that, as Christians, we are called to live a life of sacrifice and service to others.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Romans 12:1
And
Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another, not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer, distributing to the needs of saints, given to hospitality.
Romans 12:10-13
Did you catch the “continuing steadfastly in prayer?” It is so key to be in even more prayer when we find ourselves discouraged, feeling used, and selfish.
Thankfully….
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15
Thankfully, He knows our struggle. Thankfully, He was tempted as we…. Do you get what that means? It means that when we are ready to throw in the towel with people, He has been there as well. Do you really think He never wanted just zap Peter, Judas, Pilot…me?
And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:27-28
I discovered today that when I want to give in, when I want to be selfish, when I want to follow my flesh, all I need to do is think about Him. What He endured, how He loved and served knowing who He is…
I can handle it…because of Him.
