Sugar Belle has been dying to get her ears pierced for at least a year now. We have put her off, thinking it would be nice to save that for something special. Like that rough time around 12 where you’re not really a kid, but not really a teen….
Then, all her friends got their ears pierced, a fact which quite frankly was torture for her. She had a long talk about it one evening with Mr. Overkill, after which he persuaded me that perhaps we should go ahead and let her get them done. So, we decided that would be her gift for her 10th birthday.
As is tradition in our home, Mr. OK took her out to breakfast, and then to work with him until lunchtime. Around lunchtime, they met up with me, oddly enough I was at the mall…at the very store where most little girls go to get their ears pierced ;)… and then we sprung it on her.
She was so stinkin’ excited!
Then she got a little nervous…
Eh…that wasn’t so bad.
Neither was that.
But the look on her face afterwards was priceless!
Sigh…..
She went around for the rest of the day hopping with excitement and hugging whichever parent was closest saying, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”
Yeah. Best gift ever.
A few days later, she helped me make the cake for her luau themed birthday party.
Yep, we attempted the rainbow cake. It was very stunning. Time consuming, but stunning.
I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say everyone had a good time, even though we were all wearing tacky festive Hawaiian shirts ;)
