This past weekend, RW, Mr. OverKill’s little brother, got married. His bride is a patient, fun loving gal…let’s call her Mrs. RW. When they first were engaged, I let them know that I would be happy to help in any way. The couple asked me if I would help decorate the sanctuary and coordinate the ceremony. I was happy to do it, as I have done for others over the years. Mrs. RM was so cute when she hit that point all brides reach, you know where you really just don’t care any more about details….she would say “I don’t care, I’m getting married!” With a HUGE smile on her face.
We had a small issue with decorating in the sanctuary. Due to the hectic nature of the season, the church staff was logistically unable to remove the band equipment from the stage, so we needed to cover it. I found an idea online to use Christmas trees as the back drop for a wedding and suggested it to the bride. She decided that would do and we started asking for loaner trees. I imagined it would look nice…what I didn’t realize is that it would be gorgeous! Every time I looked at it, I said “Awww, it’s so pretty….” Then, I told Mr. OverKill, “I want to get married here….” To which he replied “Umm…”
The pictures just don’t do it justice….
It was magical….
I made the bride wait to see the sanctuary until I had it finished. Then I took her to the door she was going to enter…I was really worried that she wouldn’t like it…but she said, “I like it…yeah…it’s…” and then she started crying.
Score!
The ceremony was beautiful….
But you know it got me thinking…
time flies…
You see that red head…
He was 6 when Mr. OverKill and I started dating….
That’s how old Little Man is…
He was 8 when we got married…
And now he is a married man…and his wife is a gem.
I remember this guy…..
…just as quick, my Little Man will be standing there…
Savor the time!
I thought it was a brilliant idea to use the trees!!! It was stunning! Love those two, glad to have been able to witness the wedding even if we did have to rush off! Good job all!
