Did you have a “Meatloaf Monday” or a “Taco Tuesday” when you were growing up? I don’t remember having one…or the other ;)
I ask because I have been on a quest to find the “perfect routine.” You know, the one that my kiddos will talk about when they grow up. I can hear them now…
Yes, we always have pizza and a movie on Saturday night. Chores were done every Saturday morning from 8:00-10:00am. Our homeschool schedule could have been written in stone, school from 8:00-3:00. Every summer we went to the beach, and every winter we went to play in the snow.
Ha ha ha….yeah right, that is not my reality. I have to be flexible!!
But for some reason, that June Cleaver reality….I want it. I need it. I crave it! Perhaps, I just want to figure out the methodology of life and not have to think about routines and schedules, curriculum and extra-curricular activities any more.
I realized though, that my focus in life isn’t on routines, schedules, extra-curricular activities, laundry, housework….you get the picture.. My focus in life is on glorifying God, and He doesn’t always work on my timetable…okay He seldom operates on my timetable. Which means, I need to be flexible. It is way more important to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading, even if it means Tacos on, gasp, Friday!
