While I was shopping for all our Week O’ Fun supplies at our local craft store, I found a package of canvases in the clearance isle. I decided to pick them up and let the kids paint on them. Then, I decided I wanted to give the kiddos a lesson in abstract art. On Friday, I talked with the kids about abstract art and showed them a few pictures.
Bubba was so hilarious, he said, “So basically it’s lines, shapes, or you really can’t tell what it is, unless you squint.” Nice.
Anywho, I turned them loose to try their hand at abstract art, here are the finished products.
Now, for Bubba’s. There’s a story here…. He brought me his painting when he had finished. I was a little dumfounded, because it’s obviously some sort of car/tractor contraption. When I asked why he didn’t paint an abstract painting, he said, “I did Mom! Can you tell what it is?” I said, “Well, it looks like some kind of car or a tractor maybe…” He said, “Nope, and since you can’t tell what it is, it’s abstract.”
What a little turkey! I later found out it was a backwards tractor with a backhoe attached to it…. I think….
