Mr. OverKill and I were blessed to be able to go away for four glorious days , in honor of our 11th wedding anniversary. For some reason we always wait until the last minute to figure out what to do for our anniversary. This year was no different and I didn’t think we would be able to find a place to go, it being Valentine’s Weekend and the Daytona 500. We were hoping to go camping but all of the local campsite were full. So, I kept checking and praying and finally a site opened up at Anastasia Sate Park, in St. Augustine. We snatched it up and made plans to head to the East coast. It was actually kind of romantic because that is where we went for our honeymoon. Our campsite was awesome. It was very private and we weren’t right next to our neighbors, see?
You know you like my party lights…
The first day we were there it rained, so we drove around and went to pawn shops and whatnot. In the afternoon the weather cleared a bit and Mr. OverKill said, “Hey let’s ride our bikes over to the lighthouse. And like and idiot, I agreed. I’ll tell you, I’ll follow that man anywhere :) So, we road our bike over to the Lighthouse. I neglected to bring my camera, because I had no way to safely transport it on my bike. But here is the lighthouse….
We climbed to the top of it, all 200 plus stairs. It was a beautiful view!!!!
We have learned that it is best not to go out to dinner on our actual anniversary, because everyone goes out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. So, we stayed at the campground. Mr. OverKill cooked a wonderful campfire dinner for us.
Yummy, no?
The next day we did go to St. Augustine’s Historic Downtown and to the Fort. Sadly I didn’t bring my camera with me, so I don’t have any pictures for you.
The last day we were there the weather was beautiful! Cold, but beautiful. We rode our bikes down to the beach. I love this beach! I particularly love the sand dunes on this beach…
I think I like the sand dunes so much because the beaches I grew up around (South Beach, Miami), didn’t have dunes…they’re just cool!
We really had an awesome time and it was a much needed break for me from the everyday.
Oh, and much thanks go out to Mr. OverKill’s parents who kept the kiddos for us while we were gone.
