This morning while I was still sluggish in body, I decided to run through the sale flyers to make my grocery list and print my coupons. One of the coupons I printed, led me to the company’s website, where they had posted the cutest folded napkin bunny rabbits. I have never in my life tried my hand at folding napkins. But, you know what? With a tight budget and family coming over for Easter Sunday, I have been looking for some frugal decorating ideas. So, I gave it a shot with paper napkins, as was in the illustration. Yeah…that didn’t work out.
So, I did what any normal person does, I Googled “cloth napkin folding bunny.” I love Google. After filtering through a few sights, I found these great directions for Funny Bunny Folds, over at goodhousekeeping.com. Then, the bunnies started reproducing like crazy ;)
This one is a formal linen napkin that never sees the light of day in house.
And a white cotton napkin that never sees the light of day in my house.
I also made one out of scrapbook paper.
And I gave it a cotton ball tail.
Of course Sugar Belle and Little Man also wanted to make a bunny. Here is Little Man’s.
He is still convinced that sometimes bunnies are dark green. Yeah.
A couple of tips if you try your hand at this fun project. First be patient, it took me a couple of tries to get it to work. Second, if you are using cloth, iron and starch your napkin before folding, and then iron each fold you make. Third, the hardest part is step 11, which is to get the folds to tuck in. Once you get it figured out, it will be easy.
Have fun!
Oh wait, one more thing. See my background there? That was one of my other frugal Spring decorations. I grew rye grass in little tin pails and basins. The pails were $1.00, and the rye grass was $.99 for one pound, which I didn’t come close to using. I found the little chenille chicks at Michaels for $1.00. I will be adding some colored eggs as we get closer to Easter. If you planted your grass today or tomorrow, I would suspect it would be ready for Easter. If you are a local, I would be happy to share the leftover rye seed I have :)
