Last night, a good friend of mine posted this as her Facebook status.
If you have felt helpless regarding the crisis in Japan let do something powerful together.
I am asking all those who call Jesus their Savior to give up one meal tomorrow and fast and pray for Japan’s people.
Let call on the name of God the Father and humbly ask for his power to change things.
Here are a few things that have been laid on my heart.1.) That food and water supplies will quickly and easily be given to all who need them.
2.) That people in need of medical attention receive it quickly
3.) That loves ones find each other
4.) That orphaned children are provided for
5.) That churches in surrounding area’s are strengthened in their faith and ability to work together as a family
6.)That the Japanese people will turn their hearts towards God
7.) That people will be protected from any continuing effects from the crisis like disease, illness or nuclear meltdownIf you have other prayer suggestions please add them!
Prayer changes things!
(I added to her list, shelter and warmth. I read that in some areas of Japan, the temperatures drop below freezing at night, and these people have NOTHING!)
Would you join us in prayer today for this nation? Are willing to give up one meal, and change lives? We forget how powerful prayer is! Remember what I said yesterday, “Sometimes I forget who I talking to…”? When we pray, we are not talking to the ceiling, the clouds, or our “inner-self.” We are speaking directly, one-on-one to the God who created this Earth and this universe, He created each one of us, knitting us together in our mother’s womb. He cares for you and for me. He cares for the people in Japan, and He hears when we pray.
Case and point, yesterday I sat down and wrote a list of the bills we need to pay this month. Oh my word! I wanted to panic, but instead I chose to look to my Heavenly Father and said, “Lord, you said in your Word that you would meet our needs. These are definitely needs, not wants. This looks impossible to me, but I know you can handle it. Please meet our needs.” How faithful is my God? Mr. OverKill told me at dinner last night that just after I had sent him the list of bills on his cell phone (which was just after I prayed) he started getting new jobs, and the flow didn’t stop all day. God hears! He listens! He acts!
Please join us in prayer for this nation that is hurting, God will hear(Psalm 34:17), He will listen(John 9:31), and He will act(John 16:23-24)!
If you are going to join us, please post a comment. I think it would be encouraging for people to see they are not fasting and praying alone.
God bless you for your words and what you are doing! Will be joining you in prayer! Count me in!
Thanks for joining us!
Yeah! My small group tonight will have a night of intercession and I am going to use the verses you posted!
