I know, technically I’ve created a word there, but it’s my blog, deal with it!
We have been at the church for a good bit of everyday this week collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Yesterday and today, I must have looked a tad tired, because people keep asking me if I am tired of seeing shoeboxes. ON THE CONTRARY! I say, bring ‘em on!!!!
You see this year is the first year our church has been a collection center, which means we have a semi-trailer on site to load our boxes onto. The first-year goal for a new collection center is 4,500 shoeboxes. Last year, we collected 2,024 boxes, so it’s quite a jump. The good thing is that we are going to be fed by another church that is collecting shoeboxes as a relay center. In an interesting twist, rather than reciveing a small trailer that holds 4,500 shoeboxes, the trucking company brought us the biggest trailer, which holds closer to 7,000 shoeboxes. I know!
So, all week, we have been saying, “Perhaps the Lord has other plans for our collection center?” How cool would it be to see the Lord provide 7,000 shoeboxes???? So we are watching, hoping to get a first hand glimpse of a mirical this week; hoping to be a part of a miracle!
But, regardless, the Lord know how many shoeboxes need to come from our community. We have already broken 2 records, so we are excited.
Did you pack a shoebox this year? If not, there’s still time! Many collection centers are open Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. It only takes a few minutes to pack one, and look at the joy you will be giving.
Did you notice he had not even opened his box yet???
