3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. 4 He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 5 For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. 6 Even when we are weighed down with troubles, it is for your comfort and salvation! For when we ourselves are comforted, we will certainly comfort you. Then you can patiently endure the same things we suffer. 7 We are confident that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in the comfort God gives us.
2 Corinthians 1:3-7
I love this passage!!! What a comfort it is when we are going through troubling times. This month I have seen this beautiful principle at work. Twice this month I was able to encourage two mothers of newborns. Both of their babies were having a hard time with colic and gas. Well, let me tell you, Bubba was the king of colic! Well, my good friend Mo (homeopathic guru) suggested some drops called “Bubble-B-Gone.” Man this stuff rocks! Not only does it help with the gas, but it helps baby relax, sleep even! So, I was able to share that little tidbit from my “troubling times.” I know one of them was helped, because I got a hug and kiss from her! So cool! Blessing for her, blessing for me.
Then, a few days ago, I was able to help someone in a way I never thought I would. Back when Mr. OverKill and I first started our business, things were….tight. Actually tight doesn’t really begin to describe it. We started a business, and had Bubba 4 months later. Hmmm….yeah. So, back in the day, I became a professional at negotiating with and making payment arrangements with companies. So, back to a few days ago. A friend called in tears because they were having trouble paying a bill. I gave her some advice, based on my experiences. Then I told her, I had to laugh. Never in a million years would I have thought that I needed to go through those hard financial times, so that I could advise others who are going through the same thing. But the Lord told us, that He would comfort us, and we should then comfort others. Perhaps that would be a good blog post, “How to Communicate with Companies When You Can’t Make Your Payments on Time.”
Heck, at some point, I might be able to encourage someone who is struggling with a lingering illness, or heaven forbid(for their sake) a yeast cleanse!
