So, the girls have been wanting “Pioneer Dresses.” I though it would be a good opportunity to teach them some sewing and let them make their dresses. Then, our homeschool group scheduled a field trip to Pioneer Days in two weeks. The girls were excited that they would have an opportunity to wear their dresses for more than just dress up. But, that put us on a deadline.
So, we have been working away at sewing. We started off with the simplest part of the outfit, the apron.
They each pinned…
and cut out their own pattern pieces…
with guidance from Mom.
They also pressed their pieces
and prepped them for sewing…
with guidance from Mom.
Finally, we were ready to sew…
I don’t have a pic of Tootle Bug sewing because I had to hold her on my lap and help her sew…that would have been talent though…
So, here is the finished product…
Don’t they look pleased? In case you didn’t pick up on all the different outfits worn, this project took us several days. When I asked if they were ready to start on the dress, Sugar Belle enthusiastically said “YES!” Tootle Bug said “Mom, you can make mine.”
Aren’t they precious? So different, and so precious!
