Last Friday we got to go on a really cool field trip. Our co-op is studying Alligators this month, so our field trip was to an alligator farm. One of the moms in our group has connections and was able to get us out to the farm at hatching time. So, every kid that wanted to got to hatch a baby alligator!
How cool is that! Talk about hands-on!
My stubborn nefew even got in on the action!
Tootle Bug, who has a freakishly strong sense of smell was not having the greatest time. She finally was able to get closer to the action when she put some hand sanitizer on her hands and then covered her mouth and nose, so all she could smell was the sanitizer. Nice!
Camo Girl (Tootle Bug’s friend), on the other hand was enjoying herself to no end! So was Camo Girl’s brother, The Mop.
Get a haircut! :)
This was a 12 foot gator that had been shot the night before. I know, I know, but it was really cool, the kiddos got to touch it and ride it :) and really check it out! I was processed later for meat, waste not want not!
They also got to hold some 1 year-old gators.
I was surprised that Bubba held one!
Sugarbelle even got in on the Gator Rodeo!
Little Man eventually got comfortable with touching the gators. Then he turned the big one into a playgorund of sorts…
Please, don’t try this at home!
On behalf of gator rights activist everywhere (hehe) I have to object to this post. Don’t you know the proper way to ride a dead gator is with one hand in the air. Sheesh! What are you teaching your children??
