Do you ever feel Earth weary? I think I freaked Mr. OverKill out a little bit when I first used this expression on him. He said “What do you mean?” And I said “You know, tired of being here on Earth.” He looked at me with great concern in his eyes and said “Should I be worried about you?” Of course I responded with great indignation “No! I am not suicidal, I just get tired of being here on this sin-filled Earth sometimes.”
Sometimes, it almost seems like too much to bear. This week, I am definitely Earth weary, and the kicker is, it’s usually not me having the trouble. It’s a dear friend’s miscarriage, another dear friend tragically lost her mother-in-law, a friend’s loss of a newborn and yet another is facing a life changing surgery tomorrow. Not to mention the hurting and suffering people of Haiti and all those innocent children!
Now I get it.
Do return, O LORD; how long will it be?
And be sorry for Your servants. –Psalm 90:13
It’s times like these that I have to cling to His promises, like:
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. – Romans 8:28
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11
For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You. -Psalm 139:13-18For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from Him;
But when He cried to Him, He heard. – Psalm 22:24The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit –Psalm 34:18
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. –2Corinthians 12:9-10
Thank you M and Praise be to His name!! Amen!!
