OK, so here are some pictures and highlights of Tootle Bug’s birthday party. In our family, we have a tradition that on the kiddos 5th birthday, they get a big party and a big gift. After that, I try to keep things low key. So, Tootle Bug has been all but begging for an American Girl Doll. I’m talkin’ since her last birthday! She was absolutely positive that she was getting one. And she was right. We told her that she had to be 5 years old to get one, and so since this was her 5th she figured it was time. Mr. Overkill said, “Hey, at least she knows she can trust us”. Good point.
Anyway, when Sugarbelle got her American Girl Doll, I had made a dress for her and a matching dress for the doll. I dressed the doll in the matching dress before wrapping it, so she would have double excitment, the doll and the matching dress. So that said, I try my best that what I do for one, I do for the other. So here is Tootle Bugs dress and matching hair tie (that was very imprtant to her).
I think she likes it…
Cutie…
I think she also likes her doll….crazy haired little thing!
These were from the day before her party, on her actual birthday. She chose a Tinkerbell theme for the party. I found a really cute poem to use on the invitations.
Far, far away, in a magical place, sits a small little fairy, with her soft smiling face. She waits for her friends, in the warm summer sun; won’t you come on (date of the party) to join the fun? With fun foods to eat, and fun games to play, your arrival at (time of the party) will make (kid’s name’s) day. She anxiously waits, as each day passes by, while her fairy parents await your reply” (and then write RSVP and your phone #).
I just printed it out on velum and attached the velum to some Tinkerbell scrapbook paper with a bow dusted with glitter. I thought they were cute. In hindsight, I realized that it didn’t have the location on it, but that worked out OK.
Here is her cake…
I tried a new fondant recipe this time. It had a great flavor, but was not as stiff as I am used to working with. Tootle Bug loved it.
I set up a tent on the back porch and decorated it with these really cute huge green pom-poms and paper flowers. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of them before it started raining. But the kiddos did get to do their craft out there, before the rain came.
My sister found an awesome deal for me on plain bags for decorating (3 for 20 cents) and a big box of stick on fairies ($1.50), which the girls did for a craft. Sis also found a box of pencil toppers to decorate, so the boys started those. Most of them made dumbells.
This creative child make a dragonfly out of the pencil topper supplies. Too cute!
Mr. OK was in charge of the hamburgers, which I have already discussed in an earlier post.
He had a lot of grill support that day (aka guys standing around telling him what he’s doing wrong).
Food, crafts, cake, ice cream, 1 indoor piniata and presents. Whew! I think she had a blast!
