Yesterday, Sugarbelle and Tootle Bug were trying to talk to Little Man about going to Heaven. It was so cute! But it really amazed me to get a glimpse of the faith of a child. They were sitting on the kitchen floor playing with giant Lego-type building blocks. The girls were building their houses of gold. (Not sure why they think the houses will be gold too, but…) They were telling each other and Little Man about how when we get to heaven we get to live there with Jesus in a house that Jesus made for us. “And you know what?” Sugarbelle said, “God is going to give us a bunch of crowns! And then we get to give them back to Jesus!” Let me stop here to say that if someone gave her a crown right now, I doubt that she would be at all interested in giving back! But she said it with all sincerity and honesty, and a sweet sparkle in her eye. So, they had this conversation over and over again yesterday. Little Man, who is in a very Contradictory phase right now says “I am not going to Heaven to live with Jesus, I am staying here with Mama.” At which point I interject that I am surely going to Heaven when I die. Next thing you know he says, “When I die, I am going to Heaven with Jesus and Mama.” Sweet precious children! Sugarbelle asked me if she was right about God giving us a bunch of crowns. I had to be honest and tell her that the Bible says we will be rewarded for the things we’ve done on the Earth, so how many crowns we get to give back to Jesus depends on us and our choices. A bit later, I heard her relaying that information to the other 2 kiddos. It’s so neat to me to see how much more my children know about the things of the Lord than I did at their age. My entire family came to know the Lord when I was 7 years old. My children now have an advantage over me, Praise the Lord!
