My kiddos absolutely love to go camping. So much so, that last week they wanted to camp out in the backyard. Unfortunately for them, their mother is just a tad paranoid about having them sleep alone in the back yard. The fact that we have recently had things stolen off our carport didn’t help their case any either. But I did see an opportunity to make myself more frazzled by suggesting that they setup the tent in our family room.
I had to convince them to use the small tent. My son cracks me up, he even put down the very necessary rug in front of the tent. He also set up everything they would need for camping. Drinking water and a first aid kit.
Once camp was set up, my oldest son established himself as the leader of the group.
He decided that they needed to go outside and make a firepit. Now, ya’ll need to know that we have a very strict “no digging outside of the sandpit” rule. So, imagine my children inspecting all of the holes the dog had dug to decide which one would be the best firepit. They choose this one and then scoured the yard for rocks to enclose the firepit, so we wouldn’t end up with a brush fire. (Those imaginary brush fires can do some real damage!)
My oldest kiddo even “made” a compass. (Thank you Vanna White)
And, just like when we go camping, they were exhausted by the end of the day.
Wait, where did that extra kid come from?
