I was wondering today if anyone ever acknowledges the mother of a Nobel Prize winner. So, I Googled it, and couldn’t find anything. Now, I didn’t do an extensive search, but I have to wonder, what were their mother’s like? Did they have mothers, or mother-figures in their life? Somewhere along the way, someone must have invested time with these people. Hmmm…
Actually if you go to the Noble website, and look at the Bio’s for the Nobel Laureate you will find very detailed biographical information normally, and often this includes info on there childhood and family upbringing etc…. (Mothers included) particularly if they had an underprivileged upbringing. But the Laureates themselves get to pick what’s in there bio’s so it just depends on the what they want to be listed about them…
Thanks Unkle DD, I should have known you would come to the rescue!!!!
Checking there Website right now, and I noticed on the front page, the “Nobel Laureate of the Week” speaks of her mother! http://nobelprize.org/
Cappecchi (2007 Nobel Prize in Medicine) talk extensively about his mother, and even includes several of her pictures in his Nobel Autobiography:
