Well, first, I apologize for not having a post yesterday. It was kind of busy around here, and then Mr. OverKill and I had a special date night. Nuff said.
So, today I was able to get all my seeds in some dirt. I know, a day late. But remember my dilemma?
So, my solution to said dilemma was to start some of my seeds off in starter pots. Thus, allowing my pepper plants to finish up.
A week or so ago, I had found a blog post with directions to make your own peat pots using empty toilet paper and paper towels rolls. So, I started collecting empty rolls. Here’s the gist…
Take a toilet paper roll and cut it in half…
If you are using a paper towel roll, cut to the same length as the half of a toilet paper roll.
Next, cut four (roughly 1/2 inch) slits in one end of the roll. Try to keep them about the same width apart.
Begin folding the cut ends just like you were closing up a cardboard box…
Nifty, huh? Then, fill with dirt…
and you are ready to go. You can just plant these right in the soil!
Sadly, I didn’t have time to sit around and play origami. So, I raided my egg cartons from the fridge….they work good too :)
I also had these lovelies left over from the pepper plants…
Yes, that is two flats of green bean plants. I am hoping to have enough to put some up this season.
Mr. OverKill let me know today that he is planning to build me another row of culvert garden ASAP. So, I am banking on that last row to grow all these beans!
Also planted today: yellow squash, zucchini, romaine lettuce, carrots, broccoli, collard greens, cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I am hoping to find some Walla Walla onions seeds, but no luck yet!
Hope your gardening is getting underway as well!
