We had several good invitations for Independence Day bashes this year. But we chose not to attend any of them. I have been in a very, “Let’s stay home” mood for the last week or so. You know, the feeling you get after you spend so much time away from home, you actually forget that you remodeled your kitchen last year… uuhhh yeah. Anyway, we also were supposed to be finishing up the marble in the bathroom. So, Hubby took me and the kiddos out to breakfast and then we went to The Home Depot to pick up a few things we needed for the day’s work. Then, around 11:00 the marble guy called and said that he decided to spend the day with his family. novel idea on a National Holiday , don’t you think??? So Kiddo #1 mowed the neighbors yard again (that’s a whole other super-cute post, watch for it!). Hubby went ahead and did all he could without the marble guy. Then, the kiddos started to get hungry. Well, before I realized that Friday was The 4th, I had planned to make tacos. Hubby decided he didn’t want to eat tacos, so he took us out to eat. Where? Sonny’s real pit BBQ.. That’s right my Hubby the BBQ king, bought us BBQ on the 4th of July. Something is seriously wrong here…. Anyway, we had to go to Lowe’s after dinner, for a couple more last minute things. Yes, we try to divide our business evenly between the 2 home improvement giants. (Not really though) While we were in Lowe’s it sounded like the world was coming to an end outside. A horrible storm started moving in. We were hoping to take the kids down to the lake to watch the fireworks, but it wasn’t looking so good. So, when we got home, I remembered a cute firework craft I found and the kiddos and I made some of our own fireworks.
Well, the rain moved through and the fireworks went on, a little late, but they went on. They had some really spectacular fireworks this year. I especially liked the ground shakers. Now, Hubby says that they have had these before, but I hadn’t noticed them. They looked like a fireball exploding in the sky. Very cool!!! I tried to get a picture of them, but no luck there!
All in all though, we did have a great day!
