One of my favorite authors, Elizabeth George, first introduced me to the concept of good, better, best. The idea is that within the realm of things we can spend our time on, in addition to poor choices, we have options of things that are good, things that are better and those things that are the best use of our time.
I was thinking about this concept tonight and remembering that the time I spend with my kiddos needs to be one of my “best” times. By this I mean that I need to have the time I do get to spend with my kids be “best” time. Sometimes I get caught up doing things for them, which are necessary things, but not taking the time to do fun-best- things with them.
A few weeks ago I won a contest over at The Crafty Crow for two really neat books entitled Crafting Fun and Cooking Fun, written by Rea Grant. I mention this to say, number one the books are really cool. Number two, I am going to make a concerted effort to do at least one activity from each book with my kiddos every week. I want so much to have some fun time with them…..
while they still like me.
