So, we had an education this week. We were taken to school…by Universal Studios. A friend of Mr. OverKill’s took our entire family to US this past weekend. What a blessing! I still wasn’t feeling so hot, but I wasn’t about to miss my kiddos first big theme park experience. So, loaded with Motrin, we headed off to the park.
We didn’t get off to the best start…our fabulous host’s took us straight to the Shrek 4-D experience. They wanted us to see this first because it always has a long line later in the day. Well, we aren’t huge fans of Shrek, but we figured, OK, sure. Well, none of the kiddos really enjoyed the show. To start with, there was a ghost, and then all the 3-d stuff and the water spray they shoot out to make it more realistic, and then the spiders. They had to have 3-d spiders and then they made the little “whip” things start moving around near the seat of the chairs, that was it! Tootle Bug jumped in my lap and didn’t want to walk out of the theater when the show was finished. She was so sure those spiders were still down there.
Next in line was the rollercoaster based on the movie “The Mummy”. Mr. OverKill and his friend went on that one alone. Meanwhile, the kids and I went to Macy’s and checked out the old cars…
Next up was The Simpsons ride. I wish they hadn’t changed it from the Back to the Future ride. Our kids were not terribly impressed with it either. Around this time, we realized that our kids are definitely not “of” this world.
We walked around to the Jaws ride, but it was closed, so we settled for a picture…
Bubba was especially bummed at this point because this exciting trip was not turning out exactly like he thought it might. But then, he got a special treat….wall climbing…
Little Man did not get to climb the wall…can you tell?
Bubba even got to repel down the wall, pretty cool!
We got to see the Delorian…
And here some great music…and see some interesting shows….
interesting yeah…that’s a good word for it…
Even Mr. OverKill was…interesting.
I think Mr. Ok’s friend and his girlfriend enjoyed their time with us and the kiddos…
And after seeing Barney, live, riding the Woody WoodPecker roller coaster 5 times and E.T. about a jillion times…
No one was tired at all…
Yeah, right.
But we did get schooled. We learned that we are not as cool as Universal Studios, and that our kids are not saturated in worldly things.
It was a good day!
